Subchara moedynamics

Evangelion is not just historically important for its ‘deconstruction’ of the ‘mech’ ‘genre’ but also for introducing the two genders:

red waifu and blue waifu

(or, tsundere waifu and dandere waifu)

This produced a cambrian explosion of new shows, stemming from the discovery that all characters, no matter how complex-seeming, can be composed of the elementary particles tsundere, dandere, and deredere.

Later it was found that the exotic particles yandere and shiidere were also necessary, and that furthermore, these particles can be broken inside a meme accelerator into even more elementary ones called ‘quirks’, whose state is one of ‘top’, ‘bottom’, and ‘strange’.

All known waifus have a ‘dereon’ — a pair of bottom quirks. Dereons are attracted to each other through a mysterious horse called ‘moe’. It is supposed that it might be possible to have characters without a dereon — the theoretical ‘anti-waifu’ — but that such characters would not survive the jump to television.
